The August Vinyl Challenge is an Instagram contest/creativity exercise sponsored by a dude who goes by the handle @needledrops. I'm not usually inclined to participate in online memes or trends, but I liked the promise of this one, and I've been having a great time taking part in it.

I’ve been an avid reader and fan of Not Coming to a Theatre Near You for a few years now; long enough that the site has become my first reference point whenever I come across a movie I’ve never seen that falls within the site’s wheelhouse of “older, often unpopular, and sometimes unknown films that merit a second look.” As of a few hours ago, I’m now also a contributor.
I’m not authoring reviews (there are quite a few talented writers already taking care of that), but will be curating a new calendar section of the site highlighting localized repertory screenings throughout St. Louis. You can check it out here.
For many, many years I didn’t dream there would ever be enough classic or alternative film screenings in St. Louis to justify such an endeavor. I’m thankful that I can help further the cause, and incredibly excited to be doing so as part of such a great collective of film fans and writers.
